the author
Ken Burnett has been a fundraiser since 1977, when he joined
the international development charity ActionAid as UK director.
In 1983 he founded Burnett Associates Limited, an advertising,
marketing and communications agency specialising in social
marketing with a particular focus on donor recruitment and
development. Burnett Associates worked with fundraising organisations
in Britain, Europe and around the world, producing some of
the most original, donor-focused and effective communications
campaigns to be found anywhere.
He is currently chairman of the board of the
communications and marketing agency the Cascaid Group. Until
September 2003 he was chairman of the board of trustees of
ActionAid, one of the UK’s top 20 non-profit organisations.
He is now an independent member of the board of the new ActionAid
International and a council member of BookAid International.
He is a former vice-chair of the Institute of Charity Fundraising
Managers and he served for seven years on the board of the
International Fund Raising Group (now The Resource Alliance).
He is a fellow of the Institute of Fundraising and an honorary
fellow of the Institute of Direct Marketing.
Ken Burnett is author of several textbooks
on fundraising communication including the worldwide best
seller Relationship Fundraising,
its sequel Friends for Life: Relationship
Fundraising in Practice, Tiny
Essentials of an Effective Volunteer Board, The
Zen of Fundraising and How
to Produce Inspiring Annual Reports, written jointly
with Karin Weatherup and published in association with Burnett
Works Limited.
